Our Prediction 🔮
Last Sunday’s loss to the Raiders felt like the end of the road for this Jets team. The loss was their second in a row to a team that they now lose the tiebreaker to in a packed conference, and yet again underscored the severe issues for this team’s offense.
And yet, thanks to Buffalo’s loss to the Broncos on Monday night, a small breathe of life was once again pumped into the Jets’ rollercoaster season. For the second consecutive week, this game is being billed as one final chance for this team to save their season.
If we’re being honest… I’m not falling for it. Not again.
I try to always avoid going full Joe Benigno, but lest we forget how mindnumbingly frustrating this team has been this season? Literally seven days ago were were all burying our heads in our hands as this team could not manufacture a single touchdown again to an inferior opponent. This is the same team that hasn’t scored a touchdown in over 10 consecutive quarters, has just one touchdown since coming off of their bye and has eight offensive touchdowns in nine games.
Not only that, but this is the Jets after all. Remember last year when every week it felt like their season ended, and thanks to some luck they got a few extra chances to save it? That’s how things were set up for them in that game in Seattle last December, and they tripped over their own feet as an injured Mike White and a Jets defense that didn’t have much juice left watched their season end yet again in front of their own eyes.
I want to be optimistic and lord knows that I have tried harder than ever this season. I’ve picked them to win far more games than not, but after what’s happened the last few weeks it just feels impossible to do that right now. Can I see an avenue where the Jets can beat the Bills this afternoon? Yes! They have played Josh Allen really tough the last two years and Buffalo is similarly reeling and they’re trying to save their own season right now. But do I think the Jets are going to actually do what they need to in order to win this game and avoid a classic alley oop from hope to disappointment? Not a chance.
Maybe this team will finally break their touchdown drought on offense, but until I see it I have a hard time predicting their offense to put a real NFL performance together.
Bills 17, Jets 10.
