Prop It Like It's Hot: Jets vs. Titans
Adventures of a Mediocre Sports Bettor: Ryan breaks down his favorite prop bets for Jets vs. Titans on Sunday.
Alright, so it was a less than stellar week one from both a real-world and a betting standpoint. Let’s review:
Garrett Wilson OVER 5.5 Receptions – HIT ✅
Tyler Conklin OVER 28.5 Receiving Yards – MISS ❌
Jermaine Johnson OVER 0.25 Sacks – MISS ❌
Breece Hall OVER 96.5 Rush + Rec Yards – MISS ❌
George Kittle OVER 45.5 Receiving Yards – MISS ❌
Season Record: 1-4
Overall… it was pretty ugly, but honestly I don’t hate the process here. Breece missed his number by just four yards, and Kittle by just six, so we were very close to going 2-3 or even 3-2 which gives an entirely different outlook. Conklin we just flat out missed on, as he saw only one target, although that seemed to baffle much of the Jets media as much as it did me. Regardless, we move.
Time to get rich with this week’s five prop picks…
*All odds via DraftKings
Allen Lazard OVER 2.5 Receptions (-160)
Some things just remain true, and Aaron Rodgers being comfortable with Allen Lazard certainly seems to be one of them after week one. Lazard saw nine targets for six catches and two scores against the 49ers and with Mike Williams continuing to work his way back from an ACL recovery, I think Lazard clears this number again in Week 2.Tony Pollard OVER 51.5 Rush Yards (-115)
I know the Jets will come in looking to stack the box and make Will Levis throw the football, but this still seems low to me given how bad the Jets looked against the run last week, and how good Tony Pollard looked against the Bears, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. If Pollard doesn’t hit this number, consider that a major win and correction for the state of the Jets’ run defense.Jermaine Johnson OVER 0.25 Sacks (-145)
I’m going back to the well here. The 49ers rushing success didn’t allow the Jets pass rushers much opportunity to get after the passer, but I think that changes here. If the Jets can take an early lead and make the Titans chase the game a bit, I fully expect to see JJ remind us why he was a Pro Bowler last season against a Tennessee offensive line that allowed sixteen pressures against Chicago in Week 1.Garrett Wilson ANYTIME TD (+155)
GW was peppered with targets Week 1 as expected and I expect that to continue – and even increase – in Week 2 against an inferior opponent with more time of possession. Wilson goes up against a revamped Titans secondary, headed by top-flight corner L’Jarius Sneed, but I expect to see the Jets move Wilson around to find matchups they like, and regardless of who’s covering him, Rodgers won’t stop looking his way. Will Levis OVER 11.5 Rush Yards (-115)
Levis hurt the Bears last week with his legs, rushing four times for 36 yards. Levis can cover this number on just one scramble if the Jets lose contain on him, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him improvise with his legs even more this week after throwing the game away for Tennessee with two bad interceptions against the Bears.
The Extra Point
This week our parlay looks like this (with a bonus 6th leg!)
Allen Lazard OVER 2.5 Rec
Tony Pollard OVER 51.5 Rush Yds
Gerritt Wilson ANYTIME TD
Will Levis OVER 11.5 Rush Yds
BONUS: Jets -4
* I wrote about smashing the Jets line in my game prediction, so I’d be a hypocrite not to take it here. It was -3.5 at the time, but I still love the Jets in this spot -4.
Parlay Odds (+3800)
Just like the Jets, let’s get right in Week 2. Good luck!
