Last week was about as abominable of a loss as it gets for the Jets. It was ugly, sloppy, infuriating and disappointing against a far inferior opponent in their own building – aka the exact kind of game we’ve gotten used to over the last 13 years.
It’s clear that this coaching staff is a major, major problem, and going up against a far better staff in the Vikings is certainly daunting. It wouldn’t be at all surprising to see this team get entirely out-coached in London this morning – it’s happened plenty of times before.
For some reason, though, I still do feel weirdly positive. Maybe it’s just because I don’t think the Jets could possibly perform worse than they did last week, or because the Vikings feel like a team that while much better than we expected is playing over their heads and are due for a loss. I’m not sure, and it’s not a very analytical opinion to have, but something tells me this is going to be a close game. The betting lines and percentage odds seem to reflect that, as well.
Look, this team is going to have to overcome mediocre-to-bad coaching all season long, and the way to do that is to rely on the talent you have. One month into the season, the Jets star players are not playing like stars. Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall have underperformed massive expectations and regardless of the why, they need to get their acts together and grind this out. You could even argue that Sauce Gardner hasn’t been the best version of himself quite yet, though he has not struggled in the way the other two have.
This team is too talented to play as shitty as they did last week vs Denver, and old friend Sam Darnold is a guy you can still force into a bad decision or two. I think we see a little regression to the mean for both sides today. If not, this may be the last time I pick the Jets to win for awhile…
Score: Jets 31, Vikings 23

I don’t know if I’d call this a game Jets fans have been dreading, but as the early season NFL weeks have ticked by it certainly has gained more significance. I’m a Sam Darnold fan. I really think he could’ve been the guy here. I also understand that it was (rightly) time to part ways then they did. I love seeing his career resurgence. And unfortunately I think that narrative continues at the expense of the Jets in London on Sunday. The offense hasn’t clicked as necessary yet, and the defense has shown they’re not quite the unit last year’s was. I hope I’m wrong about this, but I think the Vikings continue their run, although I think the Jets keep it competetive.

It’s very fitting that the New York Jets will take on the Minnesota Vikings at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham is a beloved London football club but is often considered the "little brother" to the more successful Arsenal and Chelsea teams — a label the Jets have been trying to shed for generations.
The Jets and Vikings are trending in opposite directions right now. Jets' former quarterback Sam Darnold is thriving in Kevin O’Connell’s offensive scheme and has developed great chemistry with Justin Jefferson, who leads the NFL with 203 receiving yards against man coverage. Sauce Gardner will play a critical role in slowing down this offense; he has only been targeted four times in man coverage this season, allowing two receptions for 17 yards. However, the Jets’ rush defense has not fared as well, with 46 missed tackles on the season—tied for the second-most in the league. This poses a challenge against Aaron Jones, who has forced 21 missed tackles this season.
Meanwhile, Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson have struggled to connect. Rodgers has a passer rating of 72.1 when targeting Wilson, who has registered a career-low -8.3% catch rate over expected, ranking 9th-lowest in the NFL. If they fail to get on the same page, the Jets will struggle to get going in London, particularly against Brian Flores' exotic blitzes.
Score: Vikings 28, Jets 17

A trip to jolly old England could be anything but for a Jets team reeling from their brutal loss to the Broncos in Week 4. New York will have a tall task in stopping their former No. 3 overall pick Sam Darnold and his star receiver Justin Jefferson. Aaron Rodgers’ former teammate Aaron Jones will also test a Jets run defense that will still be without Leki Fotu.
Offensively, this team needs to get on the same page. Garrett Wilson needs to have a breakout game, and Rodgers should have no trouble throwing on the Vikings secondary if he gets the time to do so. That might be easier said than done, as Brian Flores will look to send plenty of blitzes against an offensive line that is coming off an abysmal performance. We’ll see if Saleh and Hackett have learned from last week and give Braelon Allen the touches on the goal line and in short yardage situations. I see this being a high scoring game if the Jets offense can get going, but if not, fans will be in for another long day.
Score: Vikings 31, Jets 24
Of course a Jet fan wants to beat the Vikes. I saw an interview with Sam Darnold and was impressed when a reporter asked him why it did not work out in New York, he indicated he did not do his part, and never layed blame on anyone else. Other than today, I wish him much success
